What could have happened.... to me.

Something which my family or friends haven't realized yet:
I had been working for a civil construction firm for the last 6 months until very recently.

They are executing the construction of a port.
The execution is taking place in a place called Pampa Melchorita, which is located between Chincha and Cañete.

Melchorita's location, is very near to the earthquake epicenter.

Recently, my working contract was not expanded, so I was not invited to go the worksite, which is Melchorita.
People working in Melchorita do not sleep in the worksite, but in a hotel in Chincha city.

When they are at the worksite, they usually leave the worksite around 6pm, to go to sleep at the hotel in Chincha city.

If I had been working there, I would have left the worksite at 6pm, and been in Chincha at 6:30pm

The earthquake that day took place at 6:40pm

Chincha is one of the most devastated places. The hotel where this people were supposed to be, is partially destroyed.
